Obituary of Herbert F. Eckert
Herbert F. Eckert was born in Bavaria, Germany, on November 28th, 1941. After World War II, 8-year-old Herbert came to the U.S with his parents, Jacob and Else. As a young adult, Herbert and his father went on a vacation to Germany. While visiting, he stayed across the street from a dental office. Herbert noticed a beautiful dental assistant in the window and would wave to her while she was working. He made an appointment to fix a filling and set a café date with the dental assistant Ingrid. Two days later, he purchased rings and proposed to Ingrid. Herbert returned to America, and shortly after, Ingrid followed. The couple would marry on August 26th, 1961. Later, they would be blessed with two children, Herbert and Susen. A dedicated and hard worker, Herbert enjoyed his work as a plant superintendent at Buffalo Technologies. Out of the 30 years he was employed, Herbert only missed five days! He started as a laborer and worked his way up the company ladder. His knowledge and experience were so valuable even after he retired that Buffalo Technologies asked Herbert to stay a couple of days a week as a consultant. He brought his work ethic home and always liked being prepared. Herbert would unwind at home by watching T.V shows such as “How it’s made” and “Modern Marvels”—frequently tuning into the history, weather, and discovery channel, and he also enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills games. Herbert enjoyed time with family, especially at Suzie’s house, for the holiday festivities and cookouts. At least once a year, Herbert loved to visit Letchworth State Park. His knowledge of the park was extensive, and he loved telling the story of how they would walk the train trestle at the park. Herbert will be missed for his dedicated work ethic and remembered for his passion for lifelong learning.
