Obituary of David J. Farrell
David Farrell was born in Buffalo, Ny on July 19th, 1949. As a young man, David served as a Gunner’s Mate in the U.S Navy. While stationed in Scotland, he met his late wife, Mary, and on August 6th, 1971, they would tie the knot in Campbeltown, Scotland. Shortly after exchanging vows, the pair would move back to Buffalo, NY, and go on to have four lovely children, Patrick, Gladys, Maryanne, and Shawn.
An overall funny guy, David was known for his great sense of humor, especially telling his dad jokes before they were cool. All joking aside, David was the type of man who would put others before himself, a helpful and generous person.
For most of his life, David worked as an industrial electrician and a Mr. Fix-it at home. He was always tinkering with home items, from appliances to cars and even motorcycles. Being mechanically inclined, he would prefer to fix something before buying something new. David became quite the collector of random spare parts and pieces of old items “just in case” someone or something he was fixing needed them.
David loved being around family and having get-togethers with others. When his kids were young, he would take them and the neighborhood kids on rides up and down the street on his Harley Davidson. As a grandfather, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. David was the glue that held the family together, their rock.
When he wasn’t tinkering, he enjoyed the outdoors and sometimes a good scotch. David loved attending concerts, camping, hunting, and traveling with his wife. The pair would travel often, their most memorable trip were traveling cross country with their camper and celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. They also frequently visited Scotland to visit Mary’s family. A huge StarTrek fan and lover of Sci-Fi, he also enjoyed movies, books, and TV shows within the Sci-Fi genre, even collecting memorabilia.
David will always be remembered as a caring man and be truly missed for his generosity.
