Stephen J. Mellerski was born on March 1, 1933, in Eden, New York, to his parents, Stephen and Lucy. Stephen was the dear husband to his loving wife, Helen. They were proudly married for 66 years and were blessed with four daughters: Carol, Christine, Barbra, and Debra. He became a cherished father-in-law, grandfather of 7, and great grandfather of 2.
Steve worked at Bethlehem Steel for 39 years. He also spent many years playing his saxophone and other instruments. Several family members, including two of his daughters, were blessed to have him play at their weddings. Steve was also an excellent handyman who could fix just about anything. His handy work can be seen throughout his and his children’s homes. One of Steve’s hobbies was making wine which was a treasured yearly family event. Steve also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. He had a powerful passion for the New York Yankees and admired classic cars. Steve was very active at his parish as an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society.
No matter what it was, Stephen found joy in it and seemed to be everybody’s “favorite uncle.” His friends and relatives will always remember his jokes, kindness, generosity, and lighthearted personality.
