Obituary of Kelly A. Thompson

Kelly A. Thompson was born on October 17, 1975, in Buffalo, New York, to her parents, Gerald and Sandra. She was a loving sister to her brothers, Kevin and the late Kristopher. When Kelly's friend, Christina, had problems, she invited her into her home, where she lived until she was married, and she became her new 'sister.' Kelly also had a wonderful son named Paul Thompson, who she adored. When people thought of Kelly, they would often describe her as a fun and loving person. After a lengthy hospitalization at ECMC, she was transferred to the Chautauqua Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center for therapy and care. While she was living at the nursing home and rehab center, she was well loved by the staff and other patients. Known for her talkative behavior, she would greet everyone that came into the home.

Kelly loved being incorporated into all the nursing home activities. Kelly was elected to be president of the resident council, and she also belonged to their gardening club. As an avid animal lover, she knew all the therapy dogs; she even helped pick out the resident therapy dog, Abby. Kelly would also sell tickets for different fundraisers and activities. The former Nursing Home Administrator asked her to keep a scrapbook of any nursing home articles pertinent to the nursing home, which she enjoyed doing. When she wasn't participating in the nursing home activities, you could find Kelly attending the music on the Pier in Dunkirk every Thursday night that she was able. Kelly spent many hours making beautiful "diamond painting" pictures, many of which adorn the halls and nursing home lobby. She also won several ribbons for these projects at the Chautauqua County Fair and the Erie County Fair. In fact, she had two pictures that were ready to be in this year's fair. Since Kelly loved being around water, she would spend weeks on her family's boat traveling to the Lake Erie Islands in Ohio, 1000 Islands, Erie Canal, Toronto, and many other places. She also had her own paddle boat at Barts Cove Marina. Kelly also got to go on a Carnival cruise, which she enjoyed.

Even though Kelly had a hard life, she always remained positive; she didn't let that affect her. She still loved everyone, and everyone loved her.
