Obituary of Rosemary E. LaRosa

On April 5th, 1937, the beautiful, quick-witted, Rosemary E. Rebar was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania.  In her high school days taught herself how to sew.  Rosemary not only could sew but was very crafty dabbling in calligraphy, painting, and anything she could get her hands on.  Her talent did not stop there; she was an incredible dancer and was voted the best dancer in her High School. While living in Phili after high school she even danced on the hit TV Show “American Band Stand.” She enjoyed listening to any music she could dance to, including 50’s and 60’s artists such as rat pack, the Beatles, and Neil Diamond.  Rosemary loved her music and always had the radio on.

One night while Rosemary was in her teens checking in coats at a Legion Dance in Scraton, PA, her future husband walked through the door, but she didn’t even know it yet.  Nick LaRosa checked in his coat that night; all he could remember was Rosemary, who was so impressionable and beautiful.  On Nick’s way to work, he would walk by her house; she would be practicing her baton, showing off for him.  Nick and Rosemary loved dancing the Jitterbug and they quickly fell in love.

Nick proposed to Rosemary at the Our Lady of Victory Basilica grotto, and Rosemary always thought that was good luck.  Nick and Rosemary tied the knot on September 21st, 1957.  Rosemary would give birth to two lovely daughters, Angela and Marie.  The family was everything to Rosemary.  Rosemary was a proud Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother; she adored all the Grandchildren she was blessed with.

Rosemary had a great sense of humor and was quite the social butterfly.  She had a laugh that was infectious.  A group of her friends would get together monthly and play Pinochle; it wasn’t about the game but rather an excuse to get everyone together.  Rosemary was quite fond of going out and about and was up for any parties or gatherings.  Rosemary played an active role in her community and volunteered for many causes.  Rosemary was a travel club member; Nick and she traveled all the time.  A couple of Rosemary’s favorite places to travel to were Europe and Cape May.  Even though Rosemary was very social, she found freedom and delight in reading.  Rosemary could get lost within its pages by opening a good book or story.
