Obituary of Sandra Lee VanAernam

Sandra Lee Van Aernam wad born on December 1, 1952 to Alton and Lois Van Aernam. As a child, Sandy often helped care for her seven younger brothers and sisters. They all learned many skills while helping to maintain their acres of property and farmland on the Cattaraugus Reservation. Throughout her youth, Sandy's love for animals and nature grew. She attended Silver Creek for elementary and high school and attended the University at Buffalo, where she majored in Art. Sandy's artistic talents and admiration for all things esthetic were displayed in many ways throughout her life. She designed, and skillfully crafted jewelry, wedding dresses, and ribbon dresses and was often sought after to decorate many venues for church occasions as well as venues for family occasions such as weddings. Sandy's artistry was also enjoyed in the things she cooked for herself, often finding new gluten-free or Keto ideas over the past several years or for much larger gatherings. Everyone showed up when Sandy cooked the Missionary dinners at church! Sandy worked very hard to provide for and to build a great life for her children, Lee, Seneca, and Amanda. She cherished spending time with them and sharing meals with them during her travels. They have many wonderful memories of times in Kansas City, Nova Scotia, and Cape May. Sandy's love for covered bridges, for the water, and for landscapes can be seen in all of the pictures she captured on these trips. Sandy dedicated her life to serving her family, friends, and her church community, beginning at an early age. She loved God so wholeheartedly and was a prayer warrior until her last days. The seeds she has planted, the eternal legacy, and the love she has left with all of us will always be remembered. VanAernam, Sandra Lee of Hamburg, NY entered into rest with the Lord May 21, 2022.
