Obituary of Duane W. Fischer

Please share a memory of Duane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Duane Fischer was born in Buffalo on August 16. 1935 to proud parents of Lewis and Lauretta Fischer. Known to others as "Renaissance Man," he was a man who never got angry or upset and remained calm, cool, and collected in all emergencies. He met the love of his life, Carol, at a theatre group on Grand Island where she was a prop mistress, and he was the production manager. Their first play was a comedy, "The Torch Bearers." A year later, they met up again at the theatre group, and he asked her out for pizza. The rest was history. Duane loved and admired his wife and even Carol's mother would say Duane was too good to her. They have been married for 58 1/2 years. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Lisa, Lauren, and Amy, and the family dogs, who were also girls. A lover of dogs, he enjoyed taking them for walks around the neighborhood and rides in the car. He would share his ice cream with them and was heartbroken when they died. He was also “The Proud Papa” to his grandchildren; Hannah, Emily, Christopher, Leah, and Mitchell. Duane supported his family with several occupations throughout the years. A lover of technology, Duane started as a social studies teacher in Tonawanda and later became AV Director for Hamburg Schools. Also, the Director of 40 Plus helped people over forty get jobs. Other jobs included Springville Chamber of Commerce, and the Apple store in Hamburg. He also worked in the Education Building at the Erie County Fair. He loved fairs and festivals so much that he bought a trailer and sold corn dogs, curly fries, and funnel cakes. Duane also loved to bake. Every Easter he would make 3-D lamb cakes, anise cookies at Christmas, and the family favorite, fastnacht kuechle. Duane also enjoyed roller skating, model railroading, and relaxing while enjoying a high ball for happy hour during his free time or watching the Sabres and Buffalo Bills. "Go Bills." Duane will be greatly missed by everyone he touched. Fischer, Duane W. March 31, 2022 of Hamburg, NY. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Roberts) Fischer; devoted father of Lisa (Michael) Chambers, Lauren (Ed) Dylag, and Amy (Dan Mahoney) Fischer; cherished Papa of Hannah, Emily, Christopher, Leah, and Mitchell; loving brother of June Fischer; also survived by nieces and nephews.
