Obituary of Donald R. Clancy

Donald Clancy was a kind, intelligent man who never spoke ill of others and always defended his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his never-ending love for his family and his everlasting genuineness. One of eight children, Donald was the second youngest born to Francis and Agnes Clancy of Buffalo, N.Y. He met the love of his life, Lois, at church even though they grew up a block apart from each other. After they Donald enlisted in the United States Army in 1953, returning from duty in 1955. During his time in the service, Lois wrote to Donald every day, waiting for him to come home. The couple married shortly thereafter, and were blessed with three beautiful children: Karen, Thomas, and Susan. Donald provided for his family by establishing a dedicated career as a Roll Turner at Republic Steel, as well as delivering flowers for Woyshner’s for several years. He belonged to the Seneca United Methodist Church throughout his life, to which he offered his time by cleaning the church when it needed it. He was also a lifetime member of the South Park Baptist Church. One of Donald's favorite pastimes was playing the piano. He would sing silly songs to his 13 grandkids and 19 great-grandkids to make them laugh, and they all referred to him as Boppa, as did many adults. He adored them all and often said his son-in-law Paul was his idol. Whenever the children needed a babysitter, they always called Don; he cherished having those opportunities to spend time with them. When not spending time with family, Donald loved to read. One could always find him reading Readers Digest or Prevention Magazines. He was also a man who loved to eat, and had a strong sweet tooth! Chocolate and roasted peanuts were his two favorites. Donald’s endless love for his family and his kindness will be remembered by all who love and remember him, and the world will be a little less bright with his absence. Clancy, Donald R. March 18, 2022 of Buffalo, NY. Beloved husband of Lois (nee Stephenson) Clancy; devoted father of Karen (Paul) Mazzu, Thomas (Laurie) Clancy, and the late Susan (David) Gaiser; also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
