Susan Dean

Obituary of Susan Jeanette Dean

Susan Dean was a unique and loving woman with a kind heart. She was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need. The most important things in her life were her family, her friends, and her cats. Born in Buffalo to Hans and Rosmarie Wagner, Susan was the first generation of her German family to be born in the United States, and she was very proud of her heritage. Her and her family enjoyed camping a lot in her younger years. Susan and her husband, Patrick, lived in Hamburg together for many years and enjoyed a simple life with their cat Deezel. Being an animal lover and having a special fondness for cats, Susan had a knack for finding and taking in strays and winning them over with her gentle nature. Throughout her whole life, there was always at least one cat in her house and she just couldn’t bear the thought of not having a kitty to warm her lap at night. Another love of hers was gardening. Susan loved being outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and loved to take the vegetables she grew and can them to share with her family and friends. A little corner of the garden was always reserved for some catnip for her beloved furry companions. She also made kimchi and pickles, which were a family favorite as they were so delicious! When she wasn’t in her garden, Susan enjoyed going to garage sales and looking through antiques. She also enjoyed relaxing with adult coloring books and listening to some music, Elton John and the Beatles being some of her favorites. Since Patrick was a disc jockey, he introduced her to a lot of new music over the years and she enjoyed finding new songs and new musicians to listen to. Susan is survived by her husband Patrick Dean, their cat Deezel, her mom Rosmarie Wagner, her sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Jeff Persons, as well as an uncle, aunts, and many cousins and friends. Susan was truly a one of a kind woman with many great friends who loved and cherished her for her fun personality and heart of gold. No services will be held according to Susan’s wishes, but anyone who wishes to honor her memory is encouraged to donate to the Ten Lives Club or a cat rescue of your choice.
