David Henry

Obituary of David John Henry

In Buffalo, New York, Dave was born to John and Gloria Henry. He and his older brother, Guy, were the best sons their parents could ever ask for. The two were close and liked the same things. The family would often go on fishing and camping trips to the Adirondacks and Canada. Dave was an energetic, active child who enjoyed being outdoors and developed a talent for wood carving. As an adult, Dave became a talented woodworker and resourceful carpenter who could make anything out of nothing. He was incredibly handy and always found a way to solve any issue. He was a machinist by trade and worked for Gowanda Electronics. In his free time, he loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing, hunting, and walking his beloved Siberian Huskies; he even got to trek the Appalachian Trail. He spent every moment he could outside and liked watching documentaries, especially those about the US National Parks. Dave met his wife Wendy through mutual friends, and the two hit it off quite quickly. This past July, they celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary; they loved each other very much, the calming energy Wendy needed, and they complemented one another’s personality. Dave welcomed Wendy to his home, an old farmhouse, he had remodeled himself that sat on hillside acreage. Together they completed the house, built a barn for horses and cattle, and constructed a cabin on top of the hill with a beautiful view. Dave was also a great cook and made delicious lasagna and scalloped potatoes with ham. He and Wendy traveled to many US States together including Maine, Dave's favorite outdoor destination. They built a wonderful life together. Dave was likable, fair, kind, and never judged anyone. He was a good listener and always saw the best in everyone. He was a light to any darkness in the world and will be genuinely missed by all whose lives he touched. Henry, David John of Otto, NY entered into rest January 9, 2022. Beloved husband of Wendy Henry; devoted son of John and Gloria Henry; cherished brother of Guy (Cindy) Henry; loving uncle of Kyle (Kelsey) and Lindsey (Zach Smith); caring cousin of Aimee (Todd) Ames and Erin (Darren) Mangine; also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
