Viola Battaglia

Obituary of Viola Battaglia

Viola Battaglia was a family-oriented woman who always kept close with the ones she loved in her life. Her Husband Murphy passed in 1988 and has been waiting for their reunion ever since. Together the two had three children: Rosalind, Leonard, and Charles. Viola was a very busy, stubborn woman, and didn’t like to sit still! She attended every social and family function that was happening and was active in her church. She was a fantastic cook and was known for always bringing a dish or hosting with great meals, especially with her famous cheesecake. It was important to her that everyone in her family enjoy good meals - she even taught her daughter in law Susan how to make her sauce. Her herb garden behind her home was beloved to her. She never swore, though when the deer and rabbits would get into her garden, she would get creative with her choice words for her strong feelings about it! Viola loved to gamble and play the slots. She even traveled to Las Vegas with her daughter Rosalind to see Neil Diamond and of course spend some time playing the slots! Later in life, Viola became a successful jewelry maker working with Mary and her niece Brenda. Her jewelry was sold at the Peddler’s Market on Elmwood Avenue, the Elmwood Arts Festival, and the Ellicottville Oktoberfest just to name a few. Viola will be missed dearly by all that loved and cherished her, for her ability to make them feel loved and cared for in her own special way.
