Obituary of Jack Perkins

John, known by Jack to everyone who knew him, was a one-of-a-kind man who, sadly, left this life before anyone was ready. Even though he had a lot of his own struggles with his health, he was always the go-to guy if you needed help right up until his last days. The number of roofs, sidings, kitchens, decks, and paint jobs he did for not only his family but his friends, is uncountable. He was the kind of guy who would pop over to his neighbor’s house and plow the snow or fix the sink anytime they needed a hand. A little bit of a perfectionist, Jack loved a good challenge and enjoyed tearing into things to see how they worked. One of his many sayings was “if you don’t know how it works, you can’t fix it.” Jack was a proud husband for over 47 years to his wife, Sandy. They were blessed with two sons, John and Joe, and Jack couldn’t be more proud of everything they did. Not only was Jack crazy about his boys, but he was also crazy about cars! He had a gift when it came to refurbishing cars; his prized 65 Oldsmobile 442 showed just how talented he was. This car took him years to finish, but it was perfect when it was completed. This car won numerous car show awards. Once he had tackled the challenge of restoring every part of that car, he sold it because the fun part for him was over. Jack bought an RV for his wife because of her dreams of traveling the country. They put about 10,000 miles on it within the first year and had a blast. Jack was always making sure that his wife was truly happy, giving her everything she ever wanted. If she wanted a new kitchen, Jack would make it happen. He was always encouraging Sandra to do thing that made her truly happy. Any time she wanted to travel, Jack was right there encouraging and supporting her. Everyone who knew Jack, knew that he was picky when it came to food! They would give him a grilled cheese and tomato soup because they knew that’s what he liked. Jack was a very selfless man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him but his helpful and encouraging spirit will be remembered for many years to come.
