Obituary of Mary Jane Tezanos
Mary Jane Tezanos was an extremely strong-willed woman who was known for her independence and courage. She and her husband, George, were married for over 60 years before his passing 19 years ago. Mary Jane's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. As her children were growing, they traveled extensively to include a 6-week trip across the United States, never visiting the same place twice. Her sister, Shirley, and her husband Henry would often travel with them. Mary Jane, Shirley, and their mother lived within a block of each other and got together every Friday evening for "coffee". Family was always first. Her children remember the "special" birthday dinners that she would cook for each of them, and all the hard work she would put into holiday dinners. In her spare time, she would crochet afghans for everyone in the family as well as lap afghans for area nursing homes. She was considerate, thoughtful, and always finding ways to make everyone feel special. Mary Jane worked as Court Clerk for the Town of Hamburg from which she retired over 30 years ago. In high school, she was part of a sorority. After graduation nine members continued to meet for cards, drinks, and conversation for over 65 amazing years. Mary Jane will be remembered for her spirited nature and steadfast ability to make anyone feel undoubtedly loved.
