Obituary of Kay M. Newell

Kay Newell was a quirky, fun-loving woman who was a wonderful friend. Kay was born in Millersburg, Ohio to Claude and Gladys Roe alongside her brother Richard. Later in life she would meet her husband Bill at a bar called Passport Europe while out with her girlfriends. He approached her with a pickup line and an offer of a cocktail. The rest was history. She became a mom to three teenage boys - Jim, Chris, and Tim, the day she said, “I do” on April 19, 1980. Kay was NOT “Mom” material, but she learned very quickly. She learned how to cope and most importantly she learned how to love. The boys went on to marry and have children, she was so happy and proud to be a gramma. They spent many, many Spring seasons in Myrtle Beach. She loved it there. She always talked about all the fun she had with friends and family. Kay really loved owls and especially adored the Snowy Owl. She was known for wearing different, unique outfits, matching everything from top to bottom, including the accessories and she loved purple. Kay was devastated when Bill passed, they were together for 31 years. She mourned him every day…After his passing, she became very involved with the WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and was once Volunteer of the Year. Kay found solace in her own company, though enjoyed playing team sports such as volleyball and baseball; here she met her best friend Terry. She and Terry were best friends for forty-three years. The two were inseparable, spending much time together, getting their hair done, shopping, and even moving across the street from each other. Kay will be missed for her ability to make the loved ones in her life glow inside, with her love, and the light she brought into their lives. Kay will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
