Obituary of James Lee Caputa

James Lee Caputa, affectionately known as Jim, wanted to be remembered for his love of music and most importantly, family. His struggles have passed on lessons of strength and perseverance, and his passion for the things he cherished will live on in those he loved. Born in Buffalo, Jim started off life early with an inclination towards the guitar, as he made himself a spray-painted cardboard guitar at the age of six. By the age of thirteen he was playing his guitar for the public as he was in many bands. During his time in the Army, while in Vietnam, he served with the Green Berets, and played for the people and children in the local villages and other service members. Later in life, he would play at 95 different nursing homes to entertain the elderly; he would get ladies wanting autographs and photos taken with him, like Elvis. Being an entertainer was his calling; it brought him the joy that he had always longed for. Jim’s other love in life was his wife, Sandi. The two met when they were very young, and they were connected even before Sandi entered the world. For a time, Jim lived above Sandi’s grandparents, and he also remembered getting along strongly with Sandi’s parents. Jim had three children when he lived in California: a son, a daughter, and a stepdaughter. Sandi had a daughter and a son. Now blessed with seven grandchildren…what a beautiful life. Both Jim and Sandi’s previous marriages ended, and they found themselves attracted to each other. One of her favorite parts of her life with Jim was that every night he would say “Goodnight, Mrs. Capota,” a personal joke the pair shared ever since they were married in 2005. They explored the United States together, seeing 42 states in an RV, camping, and sharing new experiences with each other. Jim’s favorite place that they saw was Utah, and Sandi was thrilled that he made her bucket list of seeing Hawaii come true. Jim’s bucket list item was to ride a motorcycle and he finally found a trike he could ride. When he was not by Sandi’s side enjoying what life had to offer, he was with his adored Dog, Ginger, who loved him and stuck by him unconditionally. Jim will always be remembered for his service to his nation and his pride in the country he called home. The Good Old USA. Whenever you hear the sound of country and blues, think of Jim and carry him with you in your hearts wherever the road of life leads you. Caputa, James “Jim” Lee October 31, 2021, of Blasdell, NY. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Brocki) Caputa; dear father to Travis Caputa, and Jenell (Javan) Hendricks, and stepfather to Summer (Vince) Anderson, Bridget (Mark) Chiddy, and Charles Kurnik; cherished grandfather to Austin, Skyla, Gavin, Sidney, Katelin, Addyson, and Colton; brother of Daniel (Jan) Caputa; adored doggy dad to Ginger.
