Obituary of Barbara B. Dollard

Barbara Dollard was a strong-willed, independent woman who was always on the go in life. She was a well-organized, perfectionist who you could always count on. She cherished every family event and kept everything….paperwork, recipes, photographs, bouquets—even deflated balloons. Her family will always remember her full pantry always stocked and ready for a month-long snowstorm. During her career, she worked multiple jobs. They included: first-grade teacher, Town Clerk of West Seneca, and an administrative assistant for judges. Barbara was a very generous person and was always thinking of others. During the holidays she bought gifts for everyone, including the neighbors, her hairdresser, and the mailman. When her husband Richard passed, she went and bought $400 worth of candy to give to all the nurses at Mercy Hospital as a thank you for the care they gave her husband during his time there. Richard and Barbara met as next-door neighbors in Oil City, PA, and were married in1948; the two shared their lifetime together until his passing 1993. Together the two raised four children, and though she was a strict mother, she taught them be independent. Barbara was a great cook and was known for her family's favorite tuna macaroni salad and roast beef meal. She also made delicious spaghetti, mac and cheese, and pork chops. Barbara personally loved her food burnt and would often send food back at restaurants for not being burnt enough. Ice cream was her favorite delight which she enjoyed after all three meals, hot fudge being her favorite. She had many hobbies such as reading, watching the Bills play, playing piano, going to church, and crocheting. She would often make blankets and donate them to various organizations to keep her hands busy and give to those that needed—a testament to her giving nature. Barbara was a very healthy woman and rarely got sick until her early 90’s. She always made time for self-care, as every Friday she would go get her hair done as a personal treat to herself. Barbara will be missed as the matriarch of the family, though the values she instilled in her children will forever live on for generations to come.
