Obituary of Christopher N. Mauro
Christopher Mauro was named after Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers and motorists. His naming held extra significance as he was an enormous car enthusiast throughout his life. He was a great role model to his younger sister Betsy, always looking out for her as the supportive, protective figure in her life. Their parents gave them both crucial building blocks which helped shape Christopher’s personality and life philosophies; his mother taught him to always keep learning and be passionate about everything that he does, while his father encouraged him to be a craftsman and showed him how to fix everything. As a child, Christopher wanted to be a race car driver or stuntman like Evil Knievel; he would ride his bicycle off the garage roof and do other risky feats for fun. His mother also instilled his passion for music. He loved to play the guitar, was a sound technician for bands, and loved artists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Rush, and AC/DC. Christopher was mechanically inclined, restoring classic cars like his 1968 AMX and working as a machinist. He was a talented artist and enjoyed learning about outer space. His happy place was camping in the Allegany Mountains with family and sharing stories around the campfire. Christopher loved bonfires and often would spend his free time enjoying them in his backyard.
He was a kind, generous, man and good friend with a tremendous sense of empathy and love for his family. Christopher’s love and support will be missed by all that embraced his remarkable spirit.
