Obituary of Brian Emmett Leo O'Shei

Brian O’Shei came into this world on May 15, 1965 and lived as a youth in the West side of Buffalo near Arnold and Parkdale. This area was known for close families, good neighbors and mom and pop stores. Growing up in a household of 5 boys gave Brian and his brothers many opportunities high spirited pranks, rowdiness and mischief. This environment not only fostered a special closeness with his siblings but helped forge a competitive spirit that he carried throughout his life. As a child Brian’s dream was to be an NHL Goaltender. Brian’s idols were goal tending legends Roger Crozier and Don Edwards of the Buffalo Sabres along with Patrick Roy of the Montreal Canadiens. He was so much a Crozier fan that, despite Brian being a right-handed goalie, he goaltended left-handed as a child emulating his hero. He loved playing the crease and excelled as a goaltender on the Lafayette High School Hockey Team. All through his life when Hockey Season rolled around he particularly liked to watch the Montreal Canadiens especially if he could catch a game at the Forum in Montreal! These were some of the special times when Brian was most happy. Brian was an avid sports fan who would faithfully follow the Sabres and Bills but also was a major league baseball fan cheering on the Cub and Dodgers – he was even a closet Mets fan! Brian liked to listen to 70’s and early 80’s Classic Rock. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, Van Halen, Rush and Bowie were some of the artists creating the soundtrack of his life. All said, Brian was a special guy who gave of himself and put his heart in whatever he did. This was evidenced by the numerous professional awards from HSBC and his time working at the ball field during the Buffalo Bison Baseball season along with his own personal sports awards. These were proudly displayed throughout his home and were precious reminders of some of the proudest moments in his life. Most importantly to those who knew him, he was a good man, a trustworthy friend, a devoted son who cared for his Mom and a special brother. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose path crossed his during his life. O'Shei, Brian July 27,2021 of Buffalo NY. Beloved son of Annmarie (late Harold Schultz) and late Brian O'Shei; loving brother of Kevin, Christopher (Carolyn and the late Linda), Vincent (Robin) Schultz, Jillian, Jacob and the late Joseph O'Shei; also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends. Brian was an avid lifelong fan of NHL Hockey and was retired from HSBC Bank. Friends will be received at the LAKESIDE MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 1340 Union Road West Seneca NY on Monday from 4 to 8PM where Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Brian's memory to the American Heart Association.
