Obituary of Dale Marie Wilson

Dale Wilson was a loving and giving woman who was strong in her faith. Born in 1936 to Daly and Evelyn Kiel, Dale grew up in Hoboken, NJ. Losing her mother at seven and her father at ten, she was raised by nuns at a convent boarding school. As she aged, she went to church less but always believed. Dale lived by the motto of always being true to yourself and not worrying about things that did not truly matter, often stating, "In a hundred years, a man on a flying horse will never know the difference." Dale started her own family when she met Richard "Dick" Wilson on a blind date set up by her cousin, Paula. The pair hit it off and began their family with the addition of four children; Evalynn, Richard, Kimberly, and Robert. Dale was incredibly devoted to her family and loved being a mother and homemaker. She would support her family in everything, including going to be with Dick when he was stationed in Asmara, Eritrea (Ethiopia), at the Kagnu Station Army Base. The pair would experience a plane crash on their way to Africa, an experience that left Dale with burns and a fear of fire. Over the years, Dale and Dick would welcome 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Dale was incredibly grateful for each and every one of them. When she was younger, Dale enjoyed going to the Radio City Music Hall where her father worked. She fondly remembered her father always giving her a nickel to see a movie and buy candy for her friends and herself. As she grew up, Dale had many hobbies and pastimes. She enjoyed arts and crafts, swimming, golfing, bowling, playing bridge, knitting, painting, woodworking, and going on family vacations. One of her favorite trips was to the Bahamas with her sister Pat and brother-in-law Don. Dale also loved to read anything by James Patterson or listen to Big Band music. If all else failed, one could Dale watching her favorite movie, Gone with the Wind, or enjoying her favorite dish, manicotti, which Dale often remarked that if heaven didn't have it, she didn't want to go. Dale will be remembered for her open heart, love for her family, and her mantra of always being true to yourself. Wilson, Dale (nee Kiel) June 8, 2021 of Hamburg, NY.
