Obituary of Melody Aleta Obad
Melody was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. She met her husband, Leo (Skip), when she was 20 and decided to get married and follow him back home to America. They were married in 1965 and together raised their three children: Carin, Ariadne and Lysle. It was a big adjustment for Melody to move across the world and become a home maker and mother, but she tackled these things with the same headstrong confidence with which she tackled most things. She loved being a mother and eventually grandmother to her 9 grandchildren.
Most people remember melody as an outgoing spit-fire. She was often compared to Sophia from the Golden Girls, though she hated the comparison. She had a great sense of humor and special way of connecting with people, even when they hadn’t spoken in a long time. She left an impression everywhere she went!
Gardening was one of the biggest joys of Melody’s life, outside of her family, of course. She had an impressive green thumb and could grow any kind of plant or flowers. Her love, laughter, and way with people will truly be missed.
