Marguerite was born into a proud Irish household to Patrick and Mary Harris in South Buffalo. She met the love of her life, Thomas Ostrander, when she was at Louis’ Hot Dog Stand. Thomas was there with his best friend after coming home following his time in the service, and the moment he saw her he stated: “That’s the woman I’m going to marry.” The two had been inseparable ever since, and together raised their four children: Catherine, Patricia, Thomas, and Michael.
Faith was extremely important to Marguerite and was a long-time parishioner with the St. John Paul II Parish. She was a member of their senior group and participated in many of their activities and travels, including trips to Ireland, Hawaii, and other parts of the world.
In addition to her time spent with the parish group, she also was a bingo afficianato played five to seven times a week. She was a stellar bowler and passed her skill down to her grandchildren. When she was younger, she had a joy for dancing, and was even nicknamed “The Jitterbug Queen.” As she got older, she preferred to simply be a part of a party and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with her friends.
Marguerite will always be remembered as being the rock and anchor for her family, with a winning smile and dancing eyes.
