Patricia was a selfless and helpful woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was always generous with her time and was everyone’s shoulder to cry on, and was always there if you needed her. A woman of great faith, she was heavily devoted to assisting and supporting her local churches. Patricia was the first extraordinary minister at St. Mary’s and served as the office assistant at St. Peter and Paul Church for over 35 years. When not working with the church, Patricia worked as a Real Estate Broker for various companies for numerous years. Everyone always used to say, “She’s going to find the perfect home for her folks.”
Another critical part of Patricia’s life was her family. Making time to spend with family and friends was essential. Her door was always open and ready to welcome gatherings of loved ones. Patricia’s own family began when she met Curtis Ahrens at everyone's favorite hang out at the time, the Hamburg Town Park. The pair hit it off and after Curtis returned from serving in Korea, the two got married. Soon after their family grew by the addition of their five loving children: Claudia, Curtis Jr., Christopher, Norman, and Joseph. Patricia’s wonderful family and heart only grew with the later births of 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Most of her time was spent enjoying life with her family. During the summer, Patricia loved to go to the beach, vacation in the mountains with her family. And visit with friends and family. During the holidays, the family would all gather and always requested that Patricia make her famous red velvet cake. However, traveling was truly one of Patricia’s favorite pastimes with frequent trips to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii, and vacations to the Adirondacks, and Canada. Some of Patricia’s other hobbies were quilting, sewing, gardening and going to concerts and enjoying music including big bands, classical, Nat King Cole, and Harry Belafonte.
Patricia will be remembered for her caring and open heart to family, friends, and strangers.
