Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Gannon
Elizabeth Gannon was an honest, loving woman who had an extreme passion for her family, home, and pets. Her philosophy was to try and understand other people’s feelings, and not to be critical of others until you know what someone is going through. Although it was a special dream to go to college to earn a degree in teaching, she instead worked for 38 years in the retail business. She rose to a Sr. Executive/Assistant Manager for Kaufmann’s Department store in the Boulevard Mall. Elizabeth met the love of her life Paul when she was just fifteen years old. On Easter Sunday, April 6, 1969, Paul took Elizabeth to Niagara Falls where he proposed at a special site overlooking a breathtaking view. The couple was married at the age of nineteen. They were excited to start their life together and built their own home from scratch. Elizabeth’s secret to their happy marriage was never going to bed angry, otherwise, you will be sorry and could have regrets. Together, Paul and Beth raised their three beautiful children, Paul, Erin, and Kelly. The family had several wonderful times together, but Elizabeth’s favorites were a trip to Vegas and Canada’s Wonderland. Besides raising her children, another happy moment in her life was Finding out she was going to be a grandmother. To her, it was a new lease on life the first time she held Ella Mae. Elizabeth had a few hobbies, one of them ice skating, the other was swimming. One of her biggest thrills in life was jumping into the Quarry at Sherkston Beach at the age of sixteen. She was so proud of the fact that many guys wouldn’t do it and she accomplished it without fear! Another thing she loved was singing even though she couldn’t hold a note. She loved listening to the Beatles, especially the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. Her favorite movie was Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts. When asked if you could only have five possessions what would they be? Elizabeth would answer: More grandchildren, my Paul to have lived longer, a built-in pool, my Ella to stay little and my family (the five) be always together.
