Obituary of Dennis Peter Evans Sr.

Dennis was born on the west side of Buffalo in 1946. Growing up, he was known for his tough-guy personality and for being a bit untamed. Everyone knew it was his way or the highway. Dennis would do anything for anyone. Despite his reputation for being tough, he was a loveable husband, father, and grandfather. He met his true love, Sandra Rome, in high school. They married and went on to start a family. Dennis, a welder, was employed by Bethlehem Steel until they closed. He also worked as a laborer but went on to find his final employment with Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority until retirement. Dennis always enjoyed his horses. He loved harness racing and truly had a passion for the barn life. He gave it up for several years when taking care of his family became a priority. Later on in life, he picked up harness racing again, and his wife, children, and grandchildren got to enjoy watching him race again. It was refreshing to see him relive the joy he found in horses all over again! Dennis also loved to hang out with his cronies. He spent years and years going for coffee at the Your Host on Grant St. Oh the stories he would tell about the customers. It seemed like he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He loved golfing and shooting the breeze, smoking cigars with his pals. He enjoyed debating politics, and heaven help you if you didn’t see it from his point of view! Dennis had the love of his wife and daughters unconditionally. They always found safety in his presence because it was well known to all that he was their protector. He knew so much about nature, animals, and even iPhones! Dennis Evans was a strong-willed, loving man that will be missed by many. Evans, Dennis P. Sr., January 12, 2020 of Buffalo, NY.
