Obituary of Eleanor J. Engler

Engler, Eleanor J. “Elly” (Fatta) Passing peacefully as she slept December 23, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Alvin K. (Buzz) Campbell (1970) and the late George F. Engler (2001). A dedicated, proud and loving mother of Kenneth (Cheryl) Campbell, Robert (Jayne) Campbell, and Barbara (John) Polak. Loving step-mother of the late Mary (Paul) Roche and the late Kathy (Bill) Hunt. Cherished grandmother of Kenneth Scott Campbell, Jessica (Jeff) Sills, Sean Campbell; Jill (Chris) Claus, Kristopher (Veronika) Campbell; David (Heather) Wright, Joshua (Kristine) Polak, John T. Polak, Joel (Angela) Polak and Gretchen Campbell Polak; Jason (Laura) Roche, Carin Roche, Nicholas Roche, Andy Roche.;William Hunt, Adelle Hunt, Travis Hunt, the late Hannah Hunt, Eli Hunt, Dan Hunt, Mathew Hunt, Kevin Hunt, David Hunt, Sam Hunt. Dear sister of the late Frank (Mary) Fatta, James (Sarah) Fatta and the late Mary Cashul. Dear sister-in-law of MaryEllen (Tom) Morano, the late Jack (Marlene) Campbell and the late Pat (Jim) Moran. Also survived by several adored great-grandchildren, as well as loving nephews, nieces, and friends. Elly began her love of fashion in 1939 and took great pride in having been awarded the title of “Miss Cloverbank” in 1939. She was an honor graduate of the Hamburg High School class of 1941 A veteran of WWII from 1944-1946 Elly served in Washington DC as a WAVE in the US Navy(Yeoman second class) as a shorthand stenographer. Elly's enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and sweets. She worked at Sattlers (998 Broadway), Hens&Kellys, Frontier Central High School, the Town of Hamburg, a local real estate agency and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross. She also donated generously to local charities. Elly had a deep love of animals and nature. She was also an avid reader from childhood and throughout her life - reading novels weekly until her very last day. A private service will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home for immediate family. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Hamburg, NY. A memorial church service will be scheduled at St Mary of the Lake Church in the spring. Flowers are gratefully declined.
