Peter DeBlasi was born in Buffalo, New York; growing up in an Italian household there was sauce on Sunday. Peter and his three siblings were raised with a lot of love. He was the quiet one but a little bit of a troublemaker, that is for sure!
As an adult, Peter was known by many as a man who was kind, generous, and very devoted to his family. Having worked as a corrections officer and volunteered as an auxiliary police officer in West Seneca, he was a man who could be tough when needed and knew how to get things done. But when you got past that, he was a caring person who would do anything he could to help someone in need.
Family came first and foremost to Peter. He met his wife, Karen, through some mutual friends in high school at West Seneca West. They spent 45 years together building a family with the addition of their two daughters, Nicole and Rosie, and eventually 7 grandchildren. Rosie and Nicole describe Peter as a “movie dad,” the kind of dad who would tease you mercilessly, but who could also sit down and have a heart-to-heart conversation with his kids when they needed him. He was encouraging, good-natured, and always good for a laugh. The girls knew they could depend on him no matter what they were going through or what they needed of him as a dad. He truly had a heart of gold.
Music was a big part of Peter’s life. He especially loved country music and enjoyed feel good songs about being happy and kind.
Hunting was one of Peter’s favorite hobbies, but he also had a passion for preparing meals. Nothing made him happier than to be able to prepare a big meal for his family and sit down and enjoy it all together. No occasion was complete without a good meal! When he wasn’t hunting or spending time with his family, he also enjoyed volunteering for a food pantry and Kids Escaping Drugs to give back to his community, or help others out with any projects they needed a hand with. He will truly be remembered as a kind and generous soul, and will be greatly missed by many.
