Obituary of Diane M. Cox

Diane was a hardworking and selfless woman who had an incredible work ethic, a trait she passed on to her three children. Born and raised in West Seneca, Diane was a graduate of West Seneca West High School, where she and her friends earned the nickname “The Girls of ’58”. As a young girl Diane met Joni Baron. The two would become inseparable and stay life-long friends. She loved spending time at the lake with Joni and her other friends. One of the most important parts of Diane’s life was her family. She was close to her mother, Evelyn, and cared for her in her old age. Diane’s family grew with the birth of her three children: Darlene, Daniel, and Dawn. When it came to her children, Diane was selfless. She often worked two jobs to help her children through college. Her work career centered around customer service with UPS, Ingram Micro, and her son Daniel’s chiropractic office. While working for UPS, Diane made another life-long friend, Natalie Sobczynski. Diane loved spending time with her children. Whether it was going to Dan’s baseball and hockey games, going shopping with her “second skin” Dawn, or talking endlessly on the phone with Darlene, Diane was involved in their lives. She was incredibly proud of the three and loved that she helped her children live productive lives. Diane’s unconditional love spread to her six grandchildren, two of which she helped raise and gained the nickname “Grandma Weezie.” Diane liked to stay busy. When her children were young, she was active with the Girl Scouts and also as a religious education teacher. She had great memories of traveling to Hawaii and also a Mother’s Day trip to Florida with her children. Other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and ceramics during her younger years. Her guilty pleasures were a great cheeseburger, cheesecake, or a meal of roast beef and mashed potatoes, especially when she could enjoy it with her family. In her down time, Diane could be found watching some of her favorite television shows like Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, and The Bachelor. Her greatest loves were her family and everything Irish. Diane will be greatly missed by her family and friends and remembered for her strong and open heart. Cox, Diane M.
