Michael McDermott was a very animated man with a great sense of humor. He was an amazing storyteller who always knew how to make people laugh and be there for whoever needed him. Michael was a self-proclaimed “great dancer” who enjoyed the jitterbug and a diverse musical taste with the sounds of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry. Baseball was a big deal to Michael, he was a Mets fan. Michael also loved the horse races, trips to the Erie County Fair, and traveling with his wife, Iris. He and his family, especially the siblings, were very close throughout life; it was always a party whenever they were together. Later in life, Michael had worked until retirement at Republic Steel in Security, and purchased the squeeze inn tavern with his wife, iris. His proudest moment in life was being a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a proud veteran and a member of the American legion Post 63 in Lackawanna, NY where he was the commander. Michael will be missed dearly, but knowing he is reunited with his little buddy Furby and his wife Iris, brings happy tears to our eyes.
