Obituary of MaryAnn Marek

MaryAnn Marek was known by all who knew her as a kind and gentle soul. She had a special fondness for children and dogs, but would do anything she could to help anyone who needed it. Always one to see the best in others, she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt even when they messed up. As a young girl, MaryAnn once swiped an apple from the hucksters wagon without paying, and recounted that story and how bad she felt about it for the rest of her life. A woman of strong faith, she truly encompassed and personified God’s love for all of His creatures. Born and raised in Buffalo, MaryAnn planned to become a Nun and worked in her teen years at a hospital. She met her late husband, Peter, there when he came to visit his nephew and the two fell in love and were married in 1956. They were blessed with 5 children; Peter, Paul, Margaret, Paulette, and Michelle. MaryAnn was a wonderful mother to them, and was eventually blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well. She loved each and every one of them with all of her heart! They will especially miss her baking skills. Although her cooking skills were sometimes lacking, she could bake the best cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies you’ve ever tasted! When she wasn’t baking or spending time with her family, MaryAnn enjoyed reading romance novels and always kept on top of the celebrity happenings in People Magazine. She enjoyed watching the Golden Girls and 90 Day Fiancé, and loved to sing. Although she may have sometimes been off-tune, her kids will remember her singing as being happy and full of love.
