Robert Pohlman

Obituary of Robert Frank Pohlman

Robert Pohlman was born January 22, 1924, in Buffalo. He graduated from Buffalo Technical High School and went on to study engineering and business administration at Ohio State. He loved watching the football team of his alma mater play. He played a few sports himself as a young man, including baseball, bowling, and golf. A Buffalonian through and through, he never missed a Bills or Sabres game! A devoted family man, Robert met his wife Grace on a blind date. The couple fell for each other and were married in 1953. They had two daughters, Lynn and Janice. His family was the most important thing in the world to him, and he was the most reliable and dependable person to them! Lynn remembers Robert picking up her and her friends when they were young to give them rides home, no matter where they were or what they had been up to! Janice remembers him being there every time without question to help her through her many moves. Even further back, she remembers sitting in his lap reading the Sunday comics after church. He was best buddies with his grandson, Tim, and never missed one of his sporting events. Robert was a charter member of Grace Lutheran church in Hamburg, and his faith and church family were very important to him. After Grace Lutheran closed, Robert found a new family at St. John's Lutheran. He attended faithfully all the way into his last years. He was a devoted 49 year member of the Town of Hamburg Lions Club, putting his moral philosophy to work in his life. He was known as a kind, dedicated, and genuine person to all his fellow Lions and faith family. Even the doctors and nurses who cared for him later in life developed a soft spot for him, and always made a point of telling his family how special a patient he was. In his down time, Robert's favorite hobby was maintaining his impeccable yard. His lawn was the best on the block, and his flower gardening skills were so impressive that people asked to take their wedding photos at his house. Everything Robert did, he did with pride and made sure it was done right. His work ethic and strength of character will truly be missed. Pohlman, Robert of Hamburg, NY on August 26, 2020.
