Obituary of Josephine L. Tribunella

Josephine was born on September 4, 1921 on the West Side of Buffalo. She was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (nee Cardinale) Elardo. Josephine attended Grover Cleveland High School. After graduation, she worked as a stenographer at Curtiss-Wright Corp. In 1941, she met Frank Tribunella, who was serving in the US Army during World War II in Papua, New Guinea. Their entire courtship was conducted through the mail. In October of 1944, they married at Holy Angels Church and in 1946, had their first child, Joanne. Shortly thereafter, they left their West Side roots for Lake View, NY and had their second child, Charles. Her passion was her husband and her children. Josephine also worked at the Erie County Laboratory as a stenographer. After her retirement, she was active in Wanakah Senior Citizens and was able to dedicate time to solving crossword puzzles. She even got to enjoy watching game shows on TV, especially Family Feud. She was a devoted Christian and by her loving example, shared her faith with family and friends. Her great-grandsons, Nick and Lucas, were her treasures. Tribunella, Josephine L. (nee Elardo) August 26, 2020 was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus, at age 99 of Lake View, NY. Beloved wife of late Frank Tribunella; devoted mother of Joanne (Michael) Merlino and Charles (MaryJo) Tribunella; cherished grandmother of Lisa Tribunella, John Merlino, and Kari (Chad) Wirth; precious great-grandmother “GG” of Nicolas Merlino and Lucas Wirth. Friends received on Friday, Sept. 4th from 3 – 8 PM at LAKESIDE MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC. 4199 Lake Shore Rd. (corner Camp Rd. & Rte. 5) Hamburg, NY 716-627-2919.
