Obituary of Shirley Louise Mooberry
Shirley was a family woman who enjoyed being a mother to the fullest. Her sparkling sense of humor and lust for life made her a well-liked person with lots of friends and many loves throughout her time. Her children were the center of her universe and loved family life. Shirley had an adventurous and independent spirit, moving her to Thousand Oaks, California for many years. One of her favorite activities was to take “dream drives,” her special version of road trips. Her and her late husband drove up the coast to California and all the way through to Canada. When she wasn’t on the road exploring she was a wonderful cook at home. Her family fondly remembers excellent turkey dinners, pistachio pudding cakes, cream puffs, dumplings and handcrafted jellos, which were all her specialties. She loved listening to ballet and piano pieces, and her favorite musical was South Pacific. Shirley was a talented, self-taught seamstress who often sewed clothes and even fashioned her daughter’s wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” Shirley will be remembered for her zest for life and honored through adventures made to the unexplored.
