Matthew was a man who was known to be a little stubborn at times, but who used his stubbornness to hold steadfastly to the things that were important to him. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for about 24 years, where he met his beloved wife, Patricia, when she nearly hit him upside the head with a parcel she was tossing into a sorting bin. He must have been impressed by her throwing arm, because he asked her out in short order and the two were married before long. They were blessed with 3 sons: Mark, Andrew, and Chris.
Participation in civic organizations was another thing that Matt did for a very long time. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #1188 in Cheektowaga for many years, and was active with the Shriners as well. Matt volunteered for the worthy causes these organizations participated in, and found it to be rewarding.
When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Matt enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Bob Ross paint, and listening to Elvis. Probably his favorite past time, however, was collecting model trains. He ended up with so many of them that he and Patricia had to build an addition on their house to make room for all of them! When Matt decided to do something, he went all in.
