Obituary of Joyce M. Buehler

Joyce was always a woman who could make anyone feel better, just by her presence alone. Her “cup half full” outlook on life brought joy and grace to everyone’s lives she touched. She was always a positive force for people in need and was skilled at finding solutions to any problem in life. Joyce was born in Salamanca and enjoyed tap dancing and participated in rollerskating club while growing up. During her senior year in high school, she worked as a telephone operator. While attending high school in Eden, she met Benjamin Buehler while he was playing baseball. The two dated and married after he came back from World War II. Together they were blessed with four children. They spent over fifty years of marriage together before his passing. After her youngest child was born, Joyce returned to work at the New York Telephone Company where she retired as a manager. When her mother became ill with Parkinson’s disease, she was the rock who took care of her parents while working full-time. While her daughter courageously battled cancer, she helped nurture her grandsons during those difficult years. In 1994, she and Ben relocated to Kings Point in Florida. After his passing, she married her second husband Clement Bissonette. Together they enjoyed over fifteen years of marriage. She was always very grateful that she had two loves of her life. Her family life became even more rewarding with the addition of seven stepchildren, all affectionately called her “Mom.” Joyce took much pride in her whole extended family. Joyce was a busy grandmother with twenty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. While Joyce was working, she also enjoyed being a part of the Home Bureau. She loved to make birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She also worked as an election inspector. After she retired, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at a church’s daycare for migrant workers. Friendship was just as important to Joyce as family. She was a great judge of character, a tough cookie, though very loving and forgiving by nature. Joyce enjoyed having many social circles, dancing, crafting and golf. Although it has been over 17 months since her passing, we are happy to be together to celebrate her life. Buehler, Joyce M.
