Obituary of Carol J. McCartan

Carol was a woman with a large heart who was always putting the needs of others before herself. She was known for her beautiful smile and incredible sense of humor from her light-hearted joke gifts at the bowling alley banquets to the pranks she would pull on her children, including taping Bobs finger down when he popped Kevin the finger and tricking Kevin into eating dog treats thinking they were a fancy snack. Being a wife, mother, a grandmother and a matriarch was the pride of Carols life. Carol cherished her husband John for over 51 years after meeting him as they both stood up in their friends, Bev and Bob’s wedding where it became love at first sight, to where in February of 1968 he proposed to her and before she said anything she asked him “where they would live”? he said West Seneca and she said “YES”! She loved our camping trips to Jelly Stone, Sherkston Beach and Crystal Beach many times during the summers. We also took several trips to Florida in a station wagon with seven of us in, where our first trip we stopped in Virginia Beach at a flee market where my mom fell in love with a huge eagle lamp which then became our eighth passenger. But since her kids have grown the special times together are when she went to almost every craft show she can get her hands on. Carol loved her kids immensely but when it came to her grandkids they were the world to her because she did just about anything for them, she tried to get to watch every sporting event she could (even if it meant she went to one and sent my dad to the other). Carol had a special bond to her dogs Ginger and Lucky (who was lucky to life in our house)! Family also extended to all her grand dogs and grand cats to where she would give them treats every time she walked into the house! Other than her family and friends She loved eagles the most where she collected everything related to eagles, she could get her hands on (or to what Bob bought her). In her spare time, she enjoyed painting ceramics and bowling in her summer league. Carol work in Tupperware for over 18 years, a crossing guard at Potter Road Elementary School for 26, and to date she was A Senior Bowling attendant. Carol loved the Buffalo Bills and never wavered from it! Above all she cared for the community, including the neighborhood dogs who she always made sure she had treats for. McCartan, Carol J.
