John was a happy go lucky guy who always seemed to be joking around. Even though John grew up poor in a family of 12 kids, he always took care of everyone but himself.

John worked two jobs until he retired from Bethlehem Steel and South Buffalo Railroad Company. He worked two full time jobs for over 30 years raising his five sons after losing the love of his life Barbara in 1979. It hit John hard, but he persevered and raised his kids on his own after losing her. John was always very good in school. A very smart man who graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1940. John served in the Army for three years earning an Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, European Theatre of Operations Ribbon with 4 Bronze Battle Stars, and a Good Conduct Medal.

John built his own home and his wife Barbara would help him do the work, like the chimney, drywall, etc. John always was willing to share a beer with his friends. He loved to tap dance, listen to Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Big Band Music. John always had a cool 1950’s hat he would strut around town in, like a member of the rat pack. John’s jokester personality and love of his friends and family will be dearly missed.
