Chuck was a man of great faith. He was a loving man with an excellent work ethic and a twinkle in his eye. Chuck enlisted in the Air Force while still in high school. After 23 years he retired as a Major. Chuck married Lois and they lived happily together for over sixty-two years. Lois and Chuck raised six children and became grandparents of eighteen and great grandparents of one plus. Faith and family were everything to him. Chuck was a very active participant in Queen of Heaven Church, school and choir, as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and PTA president. Chuck was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and he became a 4th degree Knight while in North Carolina. He moved to North Carolina in 1990 where he became involved St. Mary's Church, St. Michael 's Church on Seymour Johnson AFB, and in the volunteer activities on base including head of the volunteer office.
After Sunday Mass, Chuck prepared breakfast consisting of his famous potatoes, eggs to order and bacon and of course coffee cake from Eileen's bakery. Dinner meals often involved looking up information from the encyclopedia. He would always make sure everything was cleaned up afterward, no matter where he was. In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed tinkering around the house, fixing whatever needed to be fixed or working on cars. He also enjoyed golf, fishing and camping especially at Cedar Beach. One of his favorite hobbies was reading murder mysteries, detective stories and sci-fi. He will be remembered by his famous quote, “Life is Good!”
