Obituary of Janice A. Duffy
Jan lived a long and full life devoted to her family and friends. She lost her beloved husband, George, early in life, and devoted herself to raising her two daughters, Mary and Jo Ann. She ran the Melrose Lounge, a bar she and her family owned in South Buffalo and worked for Mayor Jimmy Griffin and Senator Bill Stachowski. However, she made time to travel extensively and took her daughters to Sabres games for several years (back when the Sabres were good). She had many cherished dogs over the years and also amassed a sizable collection of cow figurines and memorabilia.
Church was a very important part of Jan’s life, and in retirement, she would attend Mass every day, often having breakfast with her friends thereafter. She also was a ready and willing babysitter for her grandchildren Robert, Sofia, and Anna. They put a smile on her face and she on theirs.
Jan will always be missed and never forgotten by her family and friends.
