Obituary of Denise Ohayon
Denise was a strong woman who worked hard to provide for her family. Originally from Morocco, Denise traveled to the US on a cargo ship with her husband and two of their children. In the states, they had two more children, and she stayed at home to take care of them. With a limited education, Denise didn’t read or write, but she could speak many languages. She learned English just from watching Soap Operas, talking with the neighbors, and spending time with her children. However, even before she knew how to speak English, she loved to sing and dance along to Pistol Packin’ Mama by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters!
Denise was very welcoming, and she wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by the people she loved. She was a fantastic hostess, and an even better cook. She would make Moroccan and Mediterranean food, as well as all sorts of cookies. To get the recipes just right, she’d always pour the ingredients out of her hand. One of Denise’s favorite parts of hosting was getting dolled up, even at 87. She was completely independent and wanted to be covered in sparkles. The more Swarovski crystals, the better!
