Colleen was an affectionate and generous woman. She opened her home to everyone and would give you the shirt off her back. Throughout her life, friends and family members were welcome beneath her roof, whether just for one night or for weeks on end, whatever they needed. Her children’s friends were always at her house and they were all close to her. Age made no difference to Colleen, she has friends as young as her children and as old as her parents.
Colleen was very proud of her family. She celebrated her children’s accomplishments – both significant and pedestrian -- with unabashed pride and enthusiasm. If her children’s friends were in the local newspaper, that she read every day, she made sure to clip out the article for safekeeping. Beyond her own children, you could count on Colleen as a cheerleader for her nieces, nephews and grandchildren, attending all their events and following their progress.
For relaxation Colleen enjoyed and embraced the company of others. She was a people person until the end. Fish fry’s on Fridays with friends, taking her grandkids to Shea’s for Disney musicals and working in customer service are examples of the everyday interactions in which she found joy in the closeness of others.
Colleen was immensely proud of her Irish heritage and it was evidenced by her Irish eyes that were always smiling!
