Obituary of James Loftus
James was a hard-working man who wanted to provide for the people he cared for. He met the love of his life, Alice, when they were in school, and he would ride by her on his bike. The pair went to prom together, and later graduated in 1950. In August of 1952, they were happily married. The year before the wedding, James had enlisted in the Air Force, where he proudly served our country.
When he came home, he had variety of jobs. he worked in shipyards and worked as a mechanic and engineer for JH Williams. James was a strong-willed man, and he made sure to trust his gut. If he wasn’t enjoying the job he was at, he never hesitated to move on to something that he took pride in. One of his famous catchphrases was “I wanna know why!”
In his free time, he liked three things above all else, hunting, reading everything he could get his hands on, and Genessee Cream Ale. He was a part of quite a few firearm clubs, such as the Lafayette Gun Club. James had a strong faith, and he kept a Bible near his bed to read. He also read quite a bit about history and hunting.
