Joseph was a no-nonsense kind of man who told it how it was. He was once interviewed by the Buffalo News for his service during World War II and he made the reporter change a lightbulb! Joseph had an incredible quick wit and rapid-fire one-liners that kept everyone on their toes. He was dependable, he never betrayed anyone’s trust when they confided in him. Though he didn’t interfere with his kids’ lives, he was always there to help when they needed it. He adored his family and was proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joseph was amazing when it came to numbers. Even after he had brain surgery in his 70s, he never lost his brilliance. His family often joked that he was a walking GPS because of his extremely detailed directions. He could even remember details from the towns he went through during World War II. One of his favorite games to play was Euchre. He had an uncanny ability to know what cards were coming and he understood the strategy of the game inside and out.
