Obituary of Dorothea L. Mikulewicz
Dorothea was a feisty woman who followed her heart in all that she did. For a long time, she worked at Buffalo Savings Bank and also helped run the family tavern, “Joe’s Place.” After her beloved husband, Joseph, passed away, Dorothea went back to school to become a medical assistant at the age of 49. After she retired, she became very involved in Parish Neighbors. Dorothea delivered Christmas and Easter flowers, visited people in nursing homes, and would bring people to the hair salon and doctor’s appointments when they needed. She had a big heart and went out of her way to share it with everyone.
Dorothea was an independent woman, but she knew very well that family always came first. She adored her children and grandchildren and would make sure to call everyone on their birthday. In her free time, she liked tending to her garden. Dorothea loved roses, but the flocks of ladybugs that hung out there were her favorite. She also enjoyed going to Walmart and would go every week whether she needed something or not, just to look around.
