Obituary of David Venezia

David was a man of many talents, and his passion helped him to excel at anything he put his mind to. He spent much of his time with his hobbies as a creative outlet. With his skills in woodworking, he enjoyed building colonial furniture making. He also was talented in scrimshawing, the act of carving or engraving on bone or ivory! When he was out on the town, David could often be seen at the Niagara dragstrip for races in his candy apple red ’67 Chevelle.

During his nights at home, David liked to spend his time watching the Discovery and History channels so that he never stopped learning. This was important for one of his favorite pastimes, war reenacting. Specifically, he would take part in reenactments of the French and Indian and Revolutionary Wars. While on site, David was known by his nickname, “Possum.” As a young man, he enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam War to serve our country. As an adult, he worked to preserve the memory of those who laid down their life to build our country. Please take a Revolutionary War figurine to remind yourself of David’s passion for learning, and to remember how his love, while one of a kind, can always be relived and shared with the world.

Venezia, David Joseph October 6, 2018. Devoted husband of Linda Venezia (nee Backert); loving father of Anna and Sebastian (Dennis Coxson) Venezia; beloved grandfather of Thomas Notaro III and Chelsea (Jake Bonus) Notaro; adored great-grandfather of Jayde and Lilianna; cherished son of the late Sebastian and Mary Venezia; dear brother of the late Vincent (Carolann) Venezia, Denise Venezia, Debra (Kenneth) Wilson, Daniel Venezia, and Donald (Meryl) Venezia, Cathy Peturzo; also survived by many other friends and family. David will also be remembered as a member of the Brants Volunteers and Simon Girty's, and Rangers of the Ohio Company, a retiree of General Motors and American Axle, and a Veteran of the US Navy.
