Obituary of James Johnson
Jim was a big-hearted man with a great sense of humor and a fondness for the open road. Driving trucks was his career from the time he was 18 until he retired 14 years ago. Driving was not only how he provided for his family, but was how his family came to be. Jim met his wife, Jane, at a truck stop. They ended up marrying and having three sons, and he passed his love of the open road on to them.
Family was everything to Jim. He knew that having strong relationships didn’t just automatically happen – you have to work at it. It was a priority to spend as much time as he could with his grandkids and great grandkids, even when they exhausted him with their seemingly endless energy. He brought his granddaughter, heather, lunch every single Wednesday for 3 years, and frequently went out for meals to catch up with his friends as well.
When he wasn’t driving, Jim loved to watch the Weather Channel, and considered himself a self-taught meteorologist. He also loved boating. He would take his family out on the evenings and weekends as often as he could. Fishing was a rare bonus. Please take a lure or bobber to remember Jim and how his love could always reel you in.
