Obituary of Edward G. Ashcroft
Edward was a quick-thinking man with a witty sense of humor and a jokester attitude. He met the love of his life, Linda, in high school, and he cherished the 57 years of marriage they shared before her passing. Edward enjoyed the great outdoors, especially if he got to spend time by the mountains. He would often go fishing, hunting deer and turkey, and camping with his beloved family. Old cars were a passion of Edward’s, like his ’39 Cadillac Limousine or his ’64 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible, but he loved motorcycle’s most of all. He had even rode his motorcycle all the way to the Grand Canyon.
Edward was a true-blue cop, through and through. When it came to his work as a Captain of the Village of Hamburg, he was the kind of man who always played it by the book. He was always working hard to use his position in the community to give back, whether it was volunteering with police programs or belonging to organizations like the American Legion, the Shriners, and the Elks. Because of his work as a police captain, he kept a whistle on his person at all times.
