Obituary of Evelyn Rutkowski
Evelyn was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Although she was known to be a bit of a tough cookie, she was also fair and loving. A woman of strong faith, Evelyn’s life consisted largely of family and church. She was a member of the Rosary & Alter society at St. Francis Church for 60 years, and worked there as a cook for several years as well.
A talented and creative lady, Evelyn was known to paint, knit, cook, sew, and crochet. She made a beautiful wedding dress for her cousin, Margie, just one of her many beautiful creations. Sitting on the beach watching seagulls was another beloved pastime. It because a running family joke that she loved seagulls so much, despite their affinity for making messes everywhere they go.
The single most notable thing about Evelyn, however, was her skills in the kitchen. Cooking was a huge part of her life, both personally and professionally. She cooked and provided for her own family, hosting holiday dinners at her house as often as she could. Sausage Cacciatore, spaghetti sauce, and broccoli soup are just a few of the amazing recipes she kept in her inventory. Everyone in the neighborhood loved her homemade popcorn and Christmas cookies.
