Stanley DeGroff

Obituary of Stanley R. DeGroff

Stanley was an incredibly hard-working man who committed himself entirely to everything he did. This was most evident in his relationship with his family. He met his wife, Mary, in high school, while he was working at the campus bookstore. Mary bought about a million pencils at that store, just to make an excuse to see him. She was also known to “accidentally” drop her books a time or two, hoping that he would come to her aid. They began dating at 16, were married at 19, and remained devoted to each other for the rest of their lives.

Mary and Stanley began their family immediately after marrying by welcoming their first child into their lives. They also fostered many children over the years, giving of their love and home to those in need. Stanley began working for Chevrolet when he was 21 and remained there until he retired. He was as committed to his career as he was to his family and worked hard to provide for all the children in his life.

Some of Stanley’s hobbies included watching old TV shows like Gunsmoke and Hee Haw and listening to country music. However, nothing represented him better than his work ethic. He was a dedicated provider who put everyone else in his life before himself.
