Obituary of Susan Gillig
Susan was a loving woman with a lot of faith. She used to go to mass every week, and always kept her rosary with her when she prayed. She was lucky enough to meet the love of her life, Raymond, at a Genesee Valley Show when a friend introduced them. Of course, she didn’t know it at the time, and didn’t particularly want to date him. However, just before she turned 18, with her mother’s permission, the pair got married, and proceeded to have a wonderful 70 years of marriage. Susan’s family held a special place in both her heart and in her prayers. She and Ray adored the children that they raised together, and she was “proud as punch” of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Susan was an excellent cook who simply adored food in all its variations, whether she was making her spicy chili or taking her family for Sunday drives to McDonalds. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed making lots of German and Polish recipes for her family. There was always such much food out for dinner that they were never able to finish all the food. For 37 years, Susan made Christmas cookies that were so good that it was claimed that she could have sold them. Please take a Christmas cookie cutter in memory of Susan’s talent, and to always remember how her love could sweeten your life.
