Obituary of Antoinette Revekant
Antoinette was a determined lady who never let the grass grow beneath her feet. This was obvious when she and Edward competed in polka dance competitions with their three daughters in tow, every weekend. In fact, “Toni” and Edward met at a polka. She was also an avid bowler and world traveler, visiting Europe, Hawaii, Florida and Arizona. Her sense of adventure was fostered through her immigration from Krakow, Poland while the Nazi’s were invading. Her family settled in St. Catherines, Ontario and opened the famous Kita’s Bakery. When Toni was thirteen, she lost her mother and had to leave school to help with the family business. She had to grow up fast, attempting to fill in for her mother, hence her motto “I’ll do anything for the kids”. Even though she grew up in a bakery, it was not her favorite thing. She cooked all the usual Polish staples; pierogi, golabki….but her girls favorite was Patyczki or “meat sticks”.
